Chablé Yucatán is the most romantic hacienda stay near Mérida and the place to book for the countryside chapter of a Yucatán honeymoon. It sits in the jungle at Chocholá, about 40 km from Mérida, on the grounds of a restored henequen hacienda. Guests stay in casitas of about 200 square meters, each with a private pool, a terrace and indoor and outdoor showers, so most of your time can be spent in your own small world among the trees.
The spa is built around a natural cenote, a freshwater sinkhole sacred in Maya culture and the restaurants, Ixi'im and Ki'ol, cook contemporary Mexican food from local, seasonal ingredients. It is not all-inclusive, so you choose dining, wellness and activities as you go.
It suits couples who want privacy, design and slow days after a few nights of exploring Mérida's colonial streets. Families are welcome and there is a kids club, so it is not a kid-free retreat, though the spread-out casitas keep it peaceful. Couples who want a beach should add a few nights on the Caribbean coast.

Why Couples Love Chablé
Privacy is the first thing guests notice. The casitas are scattered through dense jungle rather than lined up in rows, so you hear birds rather than neighbors. With a private pool and terrace, there is little reason to leave your casita until dinner.
The hacienda adds history. The old estate buildings and walls from the henequen era have been restored and woven into the resort and the Royal Villa is built from the walls of a former hacienda structure. The result mixes Maya, colonial and modern design in a way that feels rooted in its place.
Then there is the cenote. Having a spa built around a natural sinkhole gives treatments a sense of ritual that few resorts can match. Couples in reviews mention the calm, the food and how far removed it feels from the busy Riviera Maya on the other side of the peninsula.
Casitas and Villas to Book
The standard accommodation is the Casita, about 200 square meters (2,150 square feet), with a king bed or two queens, an oversized bathroom, indoor and outdoor showers, a private terrace and a private pool. For a honeymoon, the King Casita is the obvious and excellent choice; there is no need to upgrade for privacy or space.
Villas are aimed at families and groups. The Family Villa has two bedrooms, while the Presidential Villa and the Royal Villa each have three, with the Royal Villa reaching about 930 square meters and a large terrace with a pool. The Residences offer a more private, house-style option with a central courtyard and marble floors.
Ask for a casita away from the family villas and the kids club when you book and mention your honeymoon so the team can plan something special for your arrival.
Food, Drink and the Cenote Spa
Dining is spread across several venues, all focused on contemporary Mexican cuisine made with local, seasonal ingredients. Ixi'im and Ki'ol are the two named restaurants. Expect Yucatecan flavors such as cochinita pibil, recado negro and fresh citrus, given a refined, modern treatment. Book a table at Ixi'im for at least one special evening.
The spa is the heart of Chablé. Built around a natural cenote, it offers holistic treatments that draw on Maya traditions alongside modern therapies. A couples treatment followed by time beside the cenote is the experience to plan your stay around.
Because the resort is not all-inclusive, meals, drinks and treatments are charged separately. Budget generously, since the location means you will eat most meals on property. Room service is a good option for a private dinner by your pool.

Things to Do Nearby
Chablé makes a good base for exploring western Yucatán. Mérida, about 40 minutes away, has colonial plazas, Paseo de Montejo and a lively food scene, so plan a day or evening in the city if you are not already staying there.
The Maya ruins of Uxmal and the Puuc route lie to the south, with elegant carved facades and far fewer visitors than Chichén Itzá. Swim in cenotes near Cuzamá, where you ride a small horse-drawn cart on old rail tracks between sinkholes. Celestún, on the Gulf coast, is famous for its flamingos, seen from small boats in the estuary.
On property, the resort offers wellness activities and excursions that you can book individually. Mosquitoes are common in the jungle, especially in the wet season, so pack repellent. If you're pregnant or hoping to be soon, check CDC travel health notices for Mexico before you travel.
Getting There
Fly into Mérida International Airport (MID), about 45 to 50 minutes by car from the resort. Nonstop flights from the US are limited, so many couples connect through Mexico City, Houston or another hub. Cancún (CUN) has far more US flights and is about four hours away by road, which makes it a sensible option if you are combining Chablé with the Caribbean coast.
Arrange a transfer through the resort, especially if you land in the evening, since the final roads are rural and dark. A rental car gives you freedom for Uxmal, Celestún and the cenotes; roads in Yucatán are generally good and quiet, though you should avoid driving after dark.
A popular plan is two or three nights in Mérida, three nights at Chablé and a few nights on the beach in Tulum or the Riviera Maya.
Is It Worth It?
For couples who want privacy, design and a spa experience you will not find elsewhere, yes. Casitas start at roughly $900 a night for two (approximate), with prepaid rates sometimes lower. Meals, drinks and treatments add a significant amount, since everything is à la carte.
You are paying for space and seclusion: a 200-square-meter casita with its own pool, a jungle setting and a cenote spa. Compared with beach resorts on the Riviera Maya at similar prices, it offers more privacy and a far stronger sense of place.
Pick elsewhere if you want a beach, nightlife or an all-inclusive plan. Couples on a tighter budget can look at Hacienda Temozón near Uxmal or a smaller restored hacienda, many of which offer character for less. Couples with only a night or two may get more from a hacienda closer to Uxmal.
