Nita Lake Lodge is the best boutique choice in Whistler for couples who want a quiet lake, a good spa and a fireplace in the room. It sits on the shore of Nita Lake in Creekside, at the south end of the valley, rather than in the busy pedestrian village. You still have Whistler Blackcomb on your doorstep, but evenings here are calm, with mist on the water and the forest all around.
Every room is a suite, from studios up to two-bedroom layouts. Many have fireplaces. The spa has a eucalyptus steam room, a rooftop barrel sauna and rooftop hot tubs facing the mountains. The Den is the farm-to-table restaurant, while the Lakeside Lounge serves oysters and cocktails on the water.
It suits couples who want a ski or hiking honeymoon with a slower, more romantic rhythm. Couples who want to walk out of the hotel into après-ski bars and shops every night may prefer staying in Whistler Village or the Upper Village. Here you trade that buzz for peace and a lake view.

Why Couples Love Nita Lake Lodge
The lake is the difference. Most Whistler hotels look onto streets or lift lines. Nita Lake Lodge looks onto a small, glacier-fed lake framed by forest, with Whistler Mountain rising behind. In summer you can paddle at sunrise. In winter the lake freezes and the lodge glows against the snow.
The size also helps. As a boutique lodge, it never feels crowded. The staff tend to know guests by the second day.
Creekside has its own gondola onto Whistler Mountain, so you are not far from the slopes. Yet you avoid the noise of the village after dark. Couples talk about soaking in the rooftop hot tubs under falling snow and walking back to a suite with a fire already lit as the best parts of the stay.
Suites to Book
The lodge has around a dozen suite types. The three Lake View suites look directly over Nita Lake and are the classic honeymoon pick. Ask for a high floor to see more of the water and mountains.
The Studio Suite and One Bedroom Suite are both comfortable for two and include fireplaces. The one-bedroom is the better value if you will spend evenings in, since you get a separate living area.
For a splurge, the Rainforest Suite is about 1,415 square feet with views of Whistler Mountain and a fireplace. The Glade Suite looks toward the Creekside Gondola. The Wellness Suite overlooks the Yoga Garden and adds a freestanding tub, a private infrared sauna and a Peloton bike.
If a fireplace matters, confirm it in writing when you book, since not every room type includes one.
Food, Drink and the Spa
The Den serves seasonal farm-to-table dishes and is the lodge's main dinner restaurant. Book a table by the window for the lake view. The Lakeside Lounge is lighter and more social, with oysters, seafood towers, cocktails and wine overlooking the water; on a summer evening it is the best seat in the house. Fix Cafe covers breakfast pastries, coffee, sandwiches and pizza. Creekbread also appears on the lodge's dining roster.
The Spa at Nita Lake Lodge calls itself Whistler's favorite boutique spa. Treatments include massages, scrubs and facials, plus aesthetic services. Facilities include a eucalyptus steam room, a rooftop barrel sauna, a relaxation lounge and rooftop hot tubs with mountain views. Book a couples massage after your first ski day. Then save the hot tubs for after dark.
Why guests fall for it
Things to Do
In winter, ski or snowboard Whistler Blackcomb, one of the largest ski areas in North America. Ride the Creekside Gondola up Whistler Mountain, then cross to Blackcomb on the Peak 2 Peak Gondola. If one of you does not ski, try snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or a sightseeing ride on the gondolas.
In summer, swim or paddle on Nita Lake and nearby Alta Lake. Walk or bike the paved Valley Trail, which connects Creekside to the village and lakes. Hike into wildflower meadows from the top of the gondolas.
Year-round, spend an afternoon at the Scandinave Spa in the forest north of the village, with its Nordic circuit of hot pools, cold plunges and saunas. A sunset drive along the Sea to Sky Highway, with stops at Brandywine Falls, rounds out the trip.
Getting There
Fly to Vancouver International (YVR), which has nonstop flights from many US cities. Whistler is about 2 to 2.5 hours north by car on the Sea to Sky Highway, a beautiful road along Howe Sound and up into the Coast Mountains.
You can rent a car, take a scheduled shuttle or book a private transfer. In winter, the highway can be snowy. Rental cars must have proper winter tires. A shuttle is the easier choice if you plan to ski and do not need a car.
Creekside is at the southern end of Whistler, a short drive or bus ride from the main village. The Creekside Gondola gives you direct lift access to Whistler Mountain. If you want to walk to the village for dinner, the Valley Trail is pleasant in summer; in winter take a taxi or bus.
Is It Worth It?
For couples who want a quieter, more romantic Whistler stay with a strong spa, yes. The lake setting, suites with fireplaces and rooftop hot tubs set it apart from the big village hotels. Approximate rates start around $300 to $450 a night outside peak weeks and rise sharply at Christmas and in February. Treat these as a rough guide and check direct-booking offers, which have included dinner credits and early-booking discounts.
The trade-off is distance from the village nightlife and shops. You will need a short ride to reach them in winter.
If you want ski-in, ski-out convenience and a grand hotel feel, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler in the Upper Village is the classic. The Four Seasons Resort Whistler offers larger rooms and a heated outdoor pool near the Upper Village.
