Bequia Beach Hotel is the most complete hotel on Bequia and the easiest honeymoon choice on the island if you want a beach, a pool and dinner without arranging anything. It sits on about 10 acres of gardens along Friendship Bay on the south coast, a quieter and breezier side of the island than busy Admiralty Bay. The rooms run from simple Classic Rooms up to Beachfront Suites a few steps from the sand, with villas and a kid-free all-suite house for couples who want more space.
It suits couples who like a relaxed, sociable hotel with real choice: four places to eat and drink, a seawater infinity pool, a small spa, tennis and the hotel's own boat for day trips to the Tobago Cays and Mustique. It is not a hushed luxury resort. Children are welcome year-round and there is an on-demand kids club, so expect some families around the pools in school holidays. Prices sit well below Mustique and Canouan, which is a large part of the appeal. For a week of swimming, sailing and long lunches in the Grenadines without four-figure nightly rates, it is hard to beat.
Highlights at a glance
- Beachfront Suites a few steps from Friendship Bay

- Four places to eat, including Jack's Beach Bar on Princess Margaret Beach
- Hotel boat trips to the Tobago Cays and Mustique
- Kid-free Rock Villa suites on an adjacent site
Why Couples Choose Bequia Beach Hotel
Bequia has no big resorts, so this is about as full-service as the island gets while still feeling small. The hotel faces Friendship Bay, where the trade winds keep evenings cool and the water is usually calm enough for a lazy swim before breakfast. Gardens fill the space between the beach and the hillside, with paths connecting the cottages, pools and restaurants.
The other draw is location within the Grenadines. Mustique and the Tobago Cays are a boat ride away, Port Elizabeth is 10 minutes by taxi and Princess Margaret Beach on Admiralty Bay is linked by the hotel's daily shuttle to Jack's Beach Bar. You can spend a day doing nothing on the bay, then the next day sailing among reefs and sea turtles, then come back for a sundowner on the sand. That rhythm suits couples who get restless after two days on a lounger.
Rooms and Villas to Book
For a honeymoon, the Beachfront Suite is the one to book. At around 700 square feet it faces the sea directly, which is the whole point of staying on Friendship Bay. The Junior Suite is the same size but looks over the gardens instead, a sensible saving if you plan to spend your days out on the water.
- Classic Rooms, about 290 square feet, are compact with elevated views near the hotel pool. Fine for a short stay or a tight budget.
- One Bedroom Cottages, about 645 square feet, sit in the gardens with a private porch and feel more like a little house.
- Two Bedroom Pool Villas have their own plunge pool but are designed for four.
The Rock Villa, on an adjacent site, is a kid-free all-suite house with a Master Suite of roughly 2,000 square feet overlooking Friendship Bay. It works for couples who want a quieter base with hotel facilities nearby.
Food, Drink and the Spa
Four venues means you can stay a week without repeating yourselves. Bagatelle, right on Friendship Beach, handles breakfast, lunch and dinner with your feet almost in the sand. Blue Tropic, up on the hillside, serves an Italian-style menu and gives you a view down over the bay at night. The Sand Bar is a five-minute walk along the beach. Jack's Beach Bar on Princess Margaret Beach is a good excuse for a day on the other side of the island.
Rates are room only by default, with half board, full board and all-inclusive upgrades. Half board is a sound middle path, since Port Elizabeth's waterfront restaurants are worth at least a couple of dinners. There is a weekly hosted cocktail evening that makes it easy to meet other guests if you want to.
The on-site spa and gym are small but useful. Complimentary yoga also runs on the property.
Why guests fall for it
Things to Do
The hotel's private tour boat, Sandy Toes, runs trips to the Tobago Cays and Mustique. The Cays are the highlight of most Grenadines honeymoons: a ring of uninhabited islets inside a reef where you can snorkel with green turtles in shallow water. A day to Mustique lets you see Macaroni Beach and have a drink at Basil's without paying Mustique room rates.
On property there are non-motorized water sports, an all-weather tennis court, the seawater infinity pool and two freshwater pools. Entertainment nights add some life after dark.
On Bequia itself, walk the Belmont Walkway around Admiralty Bay, swim at Princess Margaret Beach, visit the turtle sanctuary at Park Bay and time one evening for the Thursday jump-up in Port Elizabeth. Reef shoes help on rocky entries. Mosquitoes come out at dusk, so pack repellent. If you're pregnant or hoping to be soon, check CDC travel health notices for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Getting There
There is no single easy route, so plan the last leg before you book flights. The quickest option is a small plane into J.F. Mitchell Airport (BQU) on Bequia, about 45 minutes from Barbados with SVG Air. Seats are limited and the hotel suggests contacting it to check availability. On-demand flights also run from St. Lucia.
The alternative is to fly into Argyle International (SVD) on St. Vincent, which has daily connections to North America. From there it is about 45 minutes by taxi to Kingstown and roughly an hour on the ferry to Port Elizabeth, then 10 minutes by taxi to Friendship Bay. The hotel has noted its own boat transfer option for the winter season, so ask when you book.
Luggage limits on the small planes are tight. Pack soft bags and keep a swimsuit and essentials in your carry-on in case bags follow on a later flight.
Is It Worth It?
For most couples, yes. Bequia Beach Hotel gives you a real beachfront hotel in the Grenadines, with good food choices and boat access to the best reefs, at a price far below the private-island resorts nearby. A Beachfront Suite with a half-board plan is a strong-value honeymoon by Caribbean standards.
Pick somewhere else if you want butler service, a private pool as standard or a strictly kid-free resort. Couples after that level of polish should look at The Cotton House on Mustique or Mandarin Oriental on Canouan, accepting a much higher bill. Couples who would rather walk to waterfront restaurants every night may prefer a smaller hotel or villa near Port Elizabeth. And if you dislike a sociable hotel atmosphere with families around the pool, The Rock Villa next door or a private villa is the better fit.
Insider tips
- Book a Beachfront Suite rather than a Junior Suite if you will spend most afternoons at the hotel.
- Take half board and keep a few dinners free for Port Elizabeth's waterfront.
- Reserve Sandy Toes for the Tobago Cays early in your stay so you can rebook if the wind is up.
- Watch for the hotel's seasonal sales, which have offered sizable discounts on future stays.
